From Injury to Insight

A personal journey that shaped a professional path

It All Started with a Knock to the Jaw

When I was 12, I got hit in the face by a football during a school match. The goalkeeper kicked the ball straight into my jaw — locking it wide open. Scared and in pain, I instinctively grabbed both sides of my jaw and pulled it forward. It clicked back into place.

The pain eased and I thought that was the end of it. I didn’t realise that moment would set the course for the rest of my life.

Years Later, the Pain Returned

By 19, I was playing water polo and studying to become a personal trainer. I was fit, healthy, and training properly — but out of nowhere, I developed intense shoulder pain. At one point, it was so bad I couldn’t even lift a pen.

I saw specialists, had scans, and was even offered surgery — despite nothing showing up in the results. I tried physios and various treatments, but nothing helped. The injury made no sense, and it wasn’t going away.

Finally — a New Way of Looking at the Body

It wasn’t until I saw a therapist trained in acupuncture and bodywork that something clicked — literally and figuratively.

He asked about my history and traced the issue back to that long-forgotten jaw injury from school. He explained how the body had adapted for years to protect that trauma — until it couldn’t compensate anymore, and the shoulder was where it finally gave out.

After just a few sessions, the pain was gone. And I knew right then — this was what I wanted to study. To help people like me find answers when nothing else makes sense.

Immersed in Learning

I dived in. Over the following years I trained in:

Tui Na and Kore Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Acupuncture

A degree in Oriental Medicine

At the same time, I was working in a gym and had plenty of people willing to let me practise what I was learning. I even trained in martial arts (Bujinkan Taijutsu) to better understand how movement affects the body — especially under stress and joint tension.

I wasn’t just studying from textbooks — I was testing it in real bodies, in real time.

Always Learning,
Always Curious.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve continued to study with leading experts and masters in their fields. I’ve built on everything I’ve learned with one guiding question:

“What’s the root cause — and how is the body adapting around it?”

Every day, I’m still learning. Still reading. Still refining. I’ve never lost that curiosity.

My Favourite Tools and Why They Work

Tung’s Orthodox Acupuncture

A time-tested system known for fast, powerful results. It uses fewer needles and precise point selection to create a strong therapeutic effect — ideal for stubborn or long-term issues that haven’t shifted with standard treatments.

Anatomy in Motion

This approach helps identify how your body has adapted after injury or strain — and gently brings it back into balance. It’s not just about fixing pain, but understanding how you move and helping you move better.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

NLP helps uncover the thought and emotional patterns behind physical tension and chronic issues. It’s a powerful way to support lasting change — especially when stress, trauma, or mindset are part of the picture.

Looking Back

That moment on the school football pitch could’ve just been a random injury. But it led to something much bigger — a lifelong passion and a 20-year career in helping people heal.

I’m grateful for every twist in the journey. And I’m even more grateful I get to share what I’ve learned with the people who walk through my door every day.
